Tribal marks were specifically for identification of a person's tribe, heritage and also as a symbol of beauty marked on the face or the body. It is usually marked when the person is a baby. In Nigeria, this practice was most popular among the Yoruba, Fulani and Benin people and it still is. Tribal marks have different patterns, sizes, and shapes at different locations on the face or body depending on the person's tribe and culture. I know there's more I didn't say about Tribal marks but it goes way back into the African history.
